Dutch international Ibrahim Afellay revealed earlier this week that he'd be delighted to play alongside Xavi and Andres Iniesta at Barcelona and reports emanating from The Netherlands suggest that the PSV star could get his desired move to Spain in the January transfer window.
According to a report in Dutch football weekly Voetbal International, who are usually well informed when it comes to PSV, Barcelona have officially approached the Eindhoven side to express their interest in signing Afellay during the winter break.
The Catalan giants are reportedly eager to add some more depth to their midfield in January and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta supposedly sees the 24-year-old Afellay as the perfect addition to Barcelona's squad.
Afellay has an expiring deal with PSV and is reluctant to sign a contract extension with the Dutch giants. Therefore, PSV are ready to cash in on their star player during the January transfer window. They have supposedly set a €4 million asking price for Afellay.
The versatile midfielder has previously been linked with clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Inter and Juventus, but now appears to be on his way to the reigning Spanish champions instead.
