Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago’s seemingly incessant injury problems have once again ruled the Argentine out of action, the club have confirmed.
The 24-year-old has barely featured so far this season with a series of knee problems ruling him out of action since pre-season, and hopes of a comeback at the end of September were dashed when the injury exacerbated.
Gago had hoped to once again be edging ever closer to full fitness, but scar tissue on his knee has suffered from swelling, putting pressure on the medial ligament.
Realmadrid.com estimates a recovery period of two to three weeks before Gago can return to training, and it is yet another blow for the former Boca Juniors man, who has barely featured since the arrival of Jose Mourinho as head coach during the close season.
Furthermore, defender David Mateos has also suffered a slight muscle strain and is expected to be missing for the next two weeks.
