Caliendo has declared that the forthcoming Super Cup final in Monaco may provide a setting for a potential deal for Maicon to depart the Giuseppe Meazza for another top club. He had been widely expected to follow coach Jose Mourinho to Madrid and appeared interested in such a move earlier this summer but nothing tangible ever materialised.
Since then Jorge Valdano has insisted that the doors are closed at the Bernabeu for new additions with Mesut Oezil the last player to be added to their ranks this summer. However Caliendo, while declining to name a specific club, has hinted that a deal with Madrid could still happen.
"Maicon situation can be discussed on Friday after the Super Cup. At that point there are some presidents of major European clubs and perhaps, there could be Maicon talk but those are assumptions that I do myself," Caliendo said, as reported by Marca.
"I just know Maicon will be in Monaco on Friday to receive a prize, and will play the Super Cup in the Inter shirt. What may happen before or after the game between the chairmen is something that we cannot know."
