Valencia attacking midfielder Sofiane Feghouli has assured the club’s followers that the players are ready and eagerly anticipating this weekend’s La Liga kick-off.
The French under-21 international was one of a host of new additions at the Mestalla during the summer to offset the departure of star duo David Villa and David Silva, and much is expected of the former Grenoble man.
Speaking in a press conference today, the player stated that he has a good feeling for the season ahead, saying: “We have worked hard physically in pre-season, and this team can do good things in the league.
“I am very ambitious, I only think of work, to progress and earn a place to allow me to play as much as possible. I would like Valencia to repeat what they achieved last season by qualifying for the Champions League. There is enough quality to do that.”
The 20-year old was expected to head out on loan this season in order to gain first team experience, but coach Unai Emery has retained his services for the season, much to his delight.
“I always wanted to stay in Valencia,” he said, before adding: “The team is strong, and we are well prepared to begin our league campaign.”
