Sevilla coach Antonio Alvarez has said that Barcelona are "capable of anything", and although he was delighted with the performance of his side in their 3-1 win over the defending Spanish champions, he warned of their backlash in the second leg.
Second half goals from Frederic Kanoute (2) and Luis Fabiano turned the match around and handed los Nervionenses a two-goal advantage to take to the Camp Nou for next weekend’s return.
Speaking to journalists after the match, Alvarez commented on the notable difference in performance from his team in either half, saying, “It was a good outcome. We must maintain this trend in our upcoming matches because Barcelona are capable of anything.
“In the first half we were bad, but in the second we showed that we can be dangerous.”
Alvarez was also delighted with the performance of new addition Luca Cigarini, who came on as a substitute in the second period.
He remarked, “He [Cigarini] gave us the necessary poise to keep the ball and move it quickly, allowing us to achieve this result.”
The return leg takes place at the Camp Nou this Saturday before the return of La Liga a week later.
