According to a report in NUsport, newly promoted Primera Division outfit Real Sociedad are interested in signing versatile midfielder Jeffrey Sarpong, currently under contract with Amsterdam powerhouse Ajax.
Sociedad have returned to La Liga again after a three-year spell in the Segunda Division and head coach Martin Lasarte is eager to add to his ranks ahead of the new season in order to stay clear of the drop zone.
They previously signed Raul Tamudo and Joseba Lllorente, and Lasarte has now apparently set his sights on Sarpong.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is a product of the Ajax youth academy, but has failed to secure regular first team action at the Godenzonen so far. Therefore, he could be tempted to move on in order to get more playing time elsewhere.
Ajax appear to be reluctant to let go of the versatile midfielder for now, but they could be tempted to cash in on Sarpong if they manage to sign either Daniel de Ridder of Wigan Athletic or NAC's Leonardo in the coming days.
