Valencia fitness coach Pako Ayestaran is set to leave the club this summer for professional reasons, according to Super Deporte.
Ayestaran, who joined los Che on a one-year deal last summer is understood to be leaving the club due to a difference of opinion with head coach Unai Emery over approaches to fitness.
The 47-year-old was a long-serving assistant to former Valencia and Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez, having worked together since a spell at Tenerife in 2000-01 but that turned sour when the pair parted company in 2008.
The relationship between the Basque duo is said to have deteriorated in recent months with Ayestaran said to be keen to change physical training practices on a yearly basis while Emery is understood to be content with maintaining the same approach each season.
Ayestaran returned to Valencia last summer after a spell at Benfica but is reportedly unwilling to work with Emery any further and the club are also reluctantly willing to let him leave as his departure will be bring another significant cut to the club's wage bill.
