OFFICIAL: Pablo Ibanez Departs Atletico Madrid For West Bromwich Albion

Central defender Pablo Ibanez has left Atletico Madrid to join newly promoted Premier League side West Bromwich Albion on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old defender has not featured in the plans of Quique Flores on more than a handful of occasions this term and moves to the Baggies in search of regular first team football.

West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo believes former Spain international Ibanez will add a certain steel to their defence as they look to challenge in England's top flight.

"Pablo comes with bags of experience at the highest level, having been a regular fixture in La Liga for the past seven seasons. He's also played in the Champions League for Atletico and the World Cup for Spain, so the Premier League should hold no fears for him," Di Matteo stated on the West Brom website.

"Pablo has a great pedigree and, at 28, is at a good age. He will bring a physical presence to our defence and his arrival will create real competition at centre-half."
