Valencia coach Unai Emery is understood to be keen on signing Real Betis striker Sergio Garcia, in the event of failing to capture prime target Roberto Soldado from Getafe, according to Super Deporte.

The 27-year-old, who was a member of Spain's Euro 2008 winning squad, is understood to have been on the radar at the Mestalla on more than one occasion in the past and has once again been linked with a move to los Che.

His last forays in the Primera Liga have proved unsuccessful however having been relegated with current club Betis in 2009 and Zaragoza a year previously. A source close to the Mestalla club told Sevilla-based ABC newspaper that any attempt to sign Garcia would be contingent on the club failing to land Soldado.

"If we can't agree [on Soldado] we will try to close a deal for Sergio. We have [Nikola] Zigic and many players in the squad. We will not needlessly plunge into the market but it is true that Sergio interests us very much and appeals to Unai," the source reportedly told ABC.
