Official: Sevilla Sack Coach Manolo Jimenez

Sevilla have sacked coach Manolo Jimenez after they failed to beat bottom side Xerez at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.

The 1-1 draw against their Andalusian neighbours extends los Nervionenses winless streak to seven games in all competitions and the board have moved quickly to dismiss the 46-year-old in a bid to rescue their season.

After a blistering start to the campaign, which saw them rival Real Madrid and Barcelona at the top of the Primera Liga table the Andalusian outfit have endured a poor 2010 that has seen them win just four out of 13 league games since the turn of the year and has also seen them crash out of the UEFA Champions League following a home defeat to CSKA Moscow last week.

Despite a forthcoming Copa del Rey final and a host of injuries the Nervions board have obviously seen the recent poor form and an ailing bid to finish in the top four as sufficient reason to warrant ending Jimenez's two and a half year reign.

According to a statement on the club's official website, sevillafc.es, Wednesday's training will be conducted by Ramon Oria and Nacho Orellana pending a final decision from the board on the future coach.
