Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan says is side is hoping to put the nightmare start to the season behind them and he is optimistic that Los Colchoneros can make a success of the season, by winning a Cup trophy.
So far this term Atleti have crashed out of the UEFA Champions League and lie 15th in the Primera Liga but Forlan is confident they can turn things around in the second half of the season and is targetting cup success to bring long awaited silverware to the Vicente Calderon.
"We tried, but it could not be [Champions League]. Now it opens the possibility of the Europa League and we must seize it. We must
fight to win this trophy," he told AS.
"We all want to claim a title and of course it would be a great success. We are
also still alive in the Copa del Rey, a competition that causes a lot of enthusiasm among
fans of Atletico and among the staff. We will try to go as far as possible in these competitions.
"We must start looking up. We are the same players that qualified for the Champions League last year."
