Diego Forlan Left Out Of Atletico Madrid Squad To Face Marbella

The Uruguayan will not feature in los Rojiblancos' first match under Quique Sanchez Flores...
New Atletico Madrid coach Quique Sanchez Flores has omitted Diego Forlan from his 17-man squad to face Marbella in the first leg of their Copa del Rey clash this week.

The striker has been suffering from fatigue after his international exploits with Uruguay. As a result, Sanchez Flores is taking the opportunity to give him a rest before los Colchoneros' critical match against Athletic Bilbao at San Mames next weekend.

Mariano Pernia and Roberto Jimenez have also been left out of the squad due to injury, while Luis Perea, Ignacio Camacho and Juan Valera have been omitted for technical reasons.

The Copa del Rey match will be Sanchez Flores' first in charge of Atletico after Abel Resino was given the sack last week. Santi Denia was put in temporary charge for Saturday's encounter with Mallorca, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Atletico Madrid squad to face Marbella: Asenjo, De Gea, Joel; Antonio Lopez, Juanito, Ujfalusi, Dominguez, Pablo; Raul Garcia, Jurado, Maxi Rodriguez, Assuncao, Reyes, Simao, Cleber Santana; Aguero, Sinama-Pongolle.
