Jorge Andrade has been without a club since seeing his contract with Juventus terminated by the club in April following a series of injuries.
He joined Malaga a on trial basis last week, hoping that he would finally find regular playing action ahead of the 2010 World Cup.
However, Malaga have decided against handing the 31-year-old a permanent deal, citing sporting reasons, and also the need to "promote the young players of the reserve squad."
"Malaga would like to thank the player Jorge Andrade for his professionalism, effort and commitment during his training period with the first squad," a club statement read.
"During his short period with the team, Andrade showed he is in optimum physical condition according to the evaluation made by the medical services of the club."
