Cerezo: Atletico Madrid Uninterested In Aguero Offers; Will Sign Asenjo Soon

The Atleti chief has assured fans that the club has no intentions of listening to offers for ‘El Kun’ while he also promised that they will soon complete the signing of the Valladolid shot-stopper.

Sergio Asenjo has remained a top priority for Atletico Madrid despite the club admitting that they have a lot of work to do to rebuild the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Los Colchoneros have been busy negotiating with Real Valladolid over the past few weeks to complete the transfer of Asenjo but it has proven to be fruitless so far. However, club president, Enrique Cerezo is confident that the move will be sealed shortly.

“We are negotiating with the player’s club and we will finalise his signing very soon,” he said during a presentation ceremony to honour supporters of the club who have been members for the past 50 and 65 years.

“He is someone who is of great interest to us and we are going to do whatever is possible or impossible to ensure he joins us. Tomorrow he will be one step closer,” he teased.

Cerezo then went on to stress that Atletico have not received any official offers for star player, Sergio Aguero before going on to promise fans that he plans to mould a world class team for the new season.

“We have not received any offers, nor are we interested to receive any offers from any clubs in Spain or abroad,” he reassured.

“We are working towards building a great team. We already have a very solid foundation and with next season’s team, we can do big things in La Liga.”
