Villarreal To Send Mati Fernandez Out On Loan - Report

Villarreal are set to allow Mati Fernandez out on loan next season, as long as he remains within the Spanish Primera Division.

According to AS, the club and the player have agreed that he needs more playing time, something that cannot be guaranteed at El Madrigal. However, the Yellow Submarines still have high hopes for the 23-year-old, so they are keen to keep him on the leash.

Manuel Pellegrini, now departed for Real Madrid, had already approved the proposal, and it is expected that new coach Ernesto Valverde will follow suit, although he wishes to have a look at Fernandez in pre-season first.

The frontrunners for his signature appear to be Real Valladolid and Racing Santander. Recreativo de Huelva were also interested, but their relegation has destroyed any chance of a move. In addition, Fernandez's agent has rejected an offer from the United Arab Emirates.

The Chilean has spent three seasons at Villarreal, but is yet to establish himself as a first-team regular.
