A plague of injuries at Real Madrid has meant that Juande Ramos has had to call up reserve players Javier Velayos, Gary and Marcos Tebar for the match with Osasuna this Sunday.
The news will no doubt please the Pamplona club but it is unlikely to make pleasant reading for the rest of the sides involved in the relegation battle.
Indeed, along with the long-term absences for the game, Madrid will be without nine players due to suspension and injury.
The official Madrid website reports that Sergio Ramos and Gabriel Heinze will not play due to injury, whilst in goal, Jerzy Dudek is also not fit, so Iker Casillas is joined by Jordi Codina in the squad.
Fabio Cannavaro has struggled with injury so he will not play for Madrid again, whilst Guti, Fernando Gago and Wesley Sneijder are also absent.
Along with the injured players, Javi Garcia and Pepe are both suspended, whilst Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Mahamadou Diarra and Ruben de la Red are all long-term absences.
The only good news is that Marcelo, Rafael van der Vaart, Christoph Metzelder and Royston Drenthe are fit and are all included in the squad.
