Real Madrid Fan Poll Says Barcelona Loss Is Most Painful In Club History

The Los Blancos faithful have delivered a damning verdict on their side's humiliating 6-2 loss to arch rivals Barcelona on Saturday evening...

It was their heaviest defeat at home since 1930.

It was a defeat that basically handed their rivals the Primera Division crown.

And now the Real Madrid supporters have proclaimed that the 6-2 loss they suffered at the hands of the Blaugrana is the most painful defeat in the club's history.

A survey conducted in the wake of the crushing loss has found that a staggering 86 per cent of those questioned believe that the manner in which Pep Guardiola's star-studded side brushed Los Merengues aside constitutes the worst defeat Real Madrid have ever suffered.

It is necessary to go back to season 1930-31, to find a heavier defeat at the Bernabeu. On that occasion, Athletic Bilbao humbled them 6-0, and 1974 a Barcelona team guided by the genius of Johann Cruyff notched up a 5-0 triumph in the Spanish capital.

But the nature of this loss has clearly struck a nerve with the Real Madrid faithful, and given the fact that the league title was also at stake appears to have made the defeat all the more difficult to stomach.

Juande Ramos' side are now seven points behind Barcelona, with just four matches remaining this season.
