Asteras Give Carvalhal The Boot

Asteras Tripolis have confirmed the sacking of their manager Carlos Carvalhal, just nine games into the Greek Super League season…
Asteras Tripolis have wasted no time in responding to the team's underwhelming start under manager Carlos Carvalhal. They have dismissed him after a mere nine games.

The Portuguese national, who led Vitoria De Setubal to Carlsberg Cup glory and sixth place in the Portuguese Liga last season, managed only one win during his short tenure at Asteras.

His departure from the club follows a disappointing scoreless draw at home to newly promoted Panthrakikos that left his side fourth from bottom with only eight points from nine games.

An official statement on the Asteras Tripolis website read: “Asteras Tripolis announce that the club’s administration and manager until now, Carlos Carvalhal, have agreed upon a termination of the cooperation between the two parties.

“Asteras Tripolis thanks Mr. Carvalhal for his contribution to the team so far and wishes him every future success.”

Technical director Kalint Karama will take over as interim manager.
