Cvitanich recently received his Croatian passport and can’t wait to make his debut for the national side. However, he’s not a part of the Croatia selection yet.
“Croatia manger Slaven Bilic visited the Amsterdam Tournament,” said the forward to the official Ajax website. “He saw the match against Arsenal on friday and we had a conversation on Saturday.
“Croatia have two important qualification matches in September against England and Kazakhstan, with a lot of pressure on those matches. I won’t be part of the team for those two matches, but I’ll probably make my debut afterwards.”
On his immediate aims, he continued: “The important thing for me is to shine for Ajax in the upcoming season. A Croatia appearance will follow when my performances in the Eredivisie are good - I have no doubt about that.”
The Argentine born player of Croatian heritage made his debut as a professional football player for Argentinean outfit Banfield. The 24-year-old forward signed for Dutch giants Ajax this summer for an amount of €6.5million.
