Player Ratings: Inter 1-0 CSKA Moscow

Julio Cesar: 6.5 - Made one good save from Mamaev and smothered the ball at Necid's feet late on but was otherwise largely untroubled.

Maicon: 7 - He had little to worry him defensively as he spent a lot of time in the CSKA half, thereby offering a real threat from out wide.

Materazzi: 6.5 - Picked up an early yellow card but did not let that affect him, and he shackled Necid comfortably for the 90 minutes.

Samuel: 6.5 - While Lucio was suspended tonight, he was equally comfortable alongside Materazzi and prevented CSKA from having many opportunities.

Zanetti: 6 - Struggled with Krasic's pace at times but positionally very sound, keeping a tight line with the rest of the backline.

Cambiasso: 6.5 - Often found in the centre circle, looking to pick up on any loose balls and start another attack. Inadvertently blocked a goalbound shot from Eto'o in the first half.

Stankovic: 8 - Sterling performance from the midfielder, winning the ball back on countless occasions before driving forward from deep - a far cry from his showing at the weekend.

Sneijder: 7 - He suffered some strong challenges, but played some neat passes with his attacking partners as he created opportunities at will and could have doubled the lead in the second half.

Pandev: 7 - Much improved performance after half-time, always looking to launch a quick attack and combined well with Maicon and Milito.

Eto'o: 6 - Quiet evening and was visibly frustrated with the lack of opportunities going his way, but he still could have scored as Inter poured forward in search of a second.

Milito: 7.5 - He took his goal excellently as he cut inside his marker before firing a low shot into the corner - a clinical finish from the prolific striker.

Mariga: N/A - Had around 30 seconds on the pitch.

Akinfeev: 8
- He had no chance of saving Milito's goal, but he made several great stops to keep his side in the tie, including a fine double save from Cambiasso and Stankovic in the final stages.

V Berezutski: 7 - He made sure Eto'o had a limited impact on the left hand side, but might be a little disappointed that he couldn't stay tighter to Milito when he scored.

A Berezutski: 8 - Dominant in the air, keeping his composure when he was facing his own goal, and he made a brilliant goalline clearance from Pandev to keep the score at 1-0.

Ignashevich: 7 - Solid in the tackle and didn't allow Milito much space at all. Made an excellent block on Eto'o's goalbound shot late on.

Schennikov: 6.5 - He gave possession away far too cheaply in the early stages, but the youngster improved as the game went on and did his best against Maicon.

Semberas: 7 - He made one excellent clearance in the first half that saved his side a goal, and he frequently frustrated Inter as he protected the back four.

Aldonin: 6.5 - The experienced midfielder will miss the next leg through suspension. CSKA will miss his tireless running and hard work in central midfield.

Honda: 5.5 - He looked bright in the opening stages but he didn't support Necid enough in attack and wasn't on the ball enough to influence the game.

Krasic: 6 - Caused problems early on with his movement and vision, but it wasn't his best showing. He will also miss the second leg through suspension, having picked up a very harsh booking for a challenge on Cambiasso.

Mamaev: 5.5 - He was a threat with his long range shots, but his crossing was disappointing and he had little luck against Maicon in the final third.

Necid: 5.5 - His inexperience showed as he often made the wrong choice on the ball, but he was often left isolated against both Materazzi and Samuel.

Dzagoev: 6 - Covered a good deal of ground in the 20 minutes he was on the pitch.

Gonzalez: 5.5 - The pacy winger wasn't given a great deal of time to affect the game but he was rarely involved.

Rahimic: 6 - Came on with 15 minutes to go to replace the tiring Semberas.
