Manchester City's £43m Bonucci bid rejected by Juventus

Manchester City have had a €50 million (£43m) bid for Leonardo Bonucci rejected by Juventus, Goal understands.

Pep Guardiola’s side have also proposed a five-year deal for the Italy international worth €7m (£6m) a year.

But City’s offer has been met with strong resistance by the Serie A champions, who have no intention of selling the centre-back this summer.

Juventus have an excellent relationship with Bonucci and are now planning to improve his current contract in a bid to ward off any further interest from City.

Along with Bonucci, City have identified Everton’s John Stones and Athletic's Aymeric Laporte as their top potential signings which will improve Guardiola’s defensive options.

So far this summer City have already secured deals for Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is expected to go straight out on loan.
