Salzburg seal Minamino deal

Japan Under-21 international Takumi Minamino has left Cerezo Osaka for Austrian side Salzburg for an undisclosed fee.

Minamino, 19, had been with Cerezo from under-15 level and made his J1 debut in 2012. He went on to play 62 league matches, scoring seven goals.

“I’ve been with this club since Junior High School and it's thanks to Cerezo Osaka that I was able to become a professional soccer player,” said Minamino.

“I’ve been wondering everyday if it's really the right time to leave this club. However, it's not every day that you get a chance to play in Europe, so in order to lift myself as a player, after much consideration I decided to transfer to Salzburg.”

Salzburg currently sit eight points clear of Wolfsberger AC at the top of the Austrian League.
