The new Partenopei boss is keen to bolster his attacking ranks following the €63 million sale of star striker Edinson Cavani to PSG

Napoli coach Rafa Benitez has stressed that his side need to sign a striker or two in this transfer window following Edinson Cavani's exit.

The Uruguayan forward, who was the top goalscorer in last season's Serie A, joined Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth €63 million this week, leaving a gap in the Partenopei squad.

The club are believed to be close to signing Real Madrid centre-back Raul Albiol and the former Chelsea boss is now aiming to bolster his side's front line.

"We are looking for a striker," the Spaniard said at a meeting with fans on Thursday. "We've signed Albiol, a central defender, who can also play in midfield. But we ware missing something in attack.

"Two attackers are a possibility. But the midfielders we have in the team I like: we have quality and quantity. These are the features that I like."

Internacional forward Leandro Damiao and wantaway Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain have been linked with a move to the Italian giants, who finished second in Serie A last season.
