Barcelona join Manchester United in race for Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan - report

The Camp Nou outfit is the latest interested party in the Argentine winger and dispatched a scout to check on the 23-year-old in Saturday's derby at the Estadio da Luz
Barcelona are the latest team to be found keeping tabs on talented Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan, Sport claims.

An emissary from the Catalan club was at the Estadio da Luz on Saturday to observe the 23-year-old in Benfica's 1-0 victory against Sporting CP in the Portuguese Liga.

The Argentina international has been in a rich vein of form this season, leading to reports that Manchester United are also keeping a close eye on him.

Gaitan signed a one-year contract extension with Benfica last month, but his release clause remained unchanged at €45 million.

The former Boca Juniors talent, who is the current top provider in the Champions League with four assists, has so far made 20 club appearances this season.
