Juventus in talks to sign Sampdoria's Daniele Gastaldello - report

Turin-based giants are eager to land a defender before the end of the transfer window and they have opened dialogue for the Italian
Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta is in talks with Sampdoria for defender Daniele Gastaldello.

Having announced the arrival of Eljero Elia from Hamburg on a four-year deal, Marotta is trying to conclude a deal to make Gastaldello the latest face to arrive in Turin.

Sky Sport Italia reports Marotta is talking with the 28-year-old's agent, Federico Pastorello, over a possible move, following earlier news that a move for Zenit St Petersburg's Bruno Alves had collapsed as the Russians did not accept a swap with Leonardo Bonucci.

Swoops for Sao Paulo's Rhodolfo, and Alex of Chelsea also appear to have failed, leaving Juve desperate for a defender, and Marotta knows Gastaldello well from their time together at Sampdoria, who are looking to cash in following relegation to Serie B.

Rubin Kazan's Salvatore Bocchetti is also on the horizon for the Turin giants, but he has also spoken about an interest from Napoli.
