'It is very likely Lucho Gonzalez will stay' - Marseille president

The French club's supremo believes that the Argentine midfielder will make a U-turn on his decision to leave and play at OM at least one more season
Marseille president Vincent Labrune says that he is confident midfielder Lucho Gonzalez will not leave the club this summer.

The Argentina international has been linked with football away from the Ligue 1 outfit since the end of last season when he declared his wish to move on.

Roma, Malaga and Arsenal have all been credited with an interest in the 30-year-old, but with the transfer window set to end next week, no club have been able to reach an agreement with Marseille, who are reportedly demanding €10 million for the player.

The French team's assistant coach Guy Stephan said last week that he hoped Lucho would not leave Stade Velodrome, and the club's president has now described such scenario as a strong possibility.

"It is very likely Lucho will stay," Labrune is quoted as saying by L'Equipe.

Lucho joined Marseille from Porto in 2009 for €18m after a four-year stint at the current Europa League holders.
