Santos' Elano says he rejected Anzhi Makhachkala's bid

The Brazilian international has not been free from criticism in recent weeks, but has vowed to continue working and even turned down an offer from the Russian free spenders
Santos midfielder Elano has revealed he has turned down an offer to join Anzhi Makhachkala.

The former Manchester City player has come under fire of late after missing a penalty in the 5-4 league defeat to Flamengo as he chipped the ball straight into the goalkeeper's hands.

The situation has attracted the attention of Anzhi, who tabled a reported €6 million offer to pair the midfielder with the compatriots Roberto Carlos and Diego Tardelli.

Elano has now confirmed the offer from the Russian club, but stressed he has no intention of quitting Santos, whom he joined last year.

"The offer exists, but my career is stable. When someone says he wants to leave, three or four offers appear," Elano told Lancenet.

"But I am close to my daughters, I will continue working. I do not change the way I am.

"There is no problem, I am happy. People create thousands of things because of others' errors, some get mad, some happy. It is up to me to respect, I will not leave and I want to stay here for as long as possible."
