Barcelona's Jeffren nearing Sporting Lisbon move - agent

Barcelona winger Jeffren is just inches away from completing a move to Sporting Lisbon, the player's father and representative has claimed.

The Spain Under-21 international has been strongly linked with a move away from Barcelona after failing to impose himself in coach Pep Guardiola's side.

A report in news daily Record on Monday morning claimed the Portuguese side had secured an agreement in principle to sign the player for a fee below the €5 million mark, with Barcelona allegedly keeping a buy-back option.

In the afternoon, El Mundo Deportivo suggested Jeffren had left Barcelona's training camp in Miami after taking part in the morning training session, and the player's agent has now indicated that a move is close at hand.

"Things are going in a really nice direction; there are only a few details about the deal left," Efren Suarez told A BOLA.

Meanwhile, Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed Jeffren is on his way out of the club, though he did not mention where the winger will be plying his trade next.

"This was a mutual decision between the player and me. I told him if he wanted to play more, the best thing was for him to leave," Guardiola said at a press conference.

"We appreciate everything he has done and I lament I did not give him more opportunities. The best for him is to leave, so that he can play more."

Jeffren, 23, made 13 appearances for Barcelona in all competitions last season, scoring one goal.
