Gabriel Heinze agrees to join Roma - reports

Ex Manchester United and Real Madrid man turns hand to Serie A as he gets ready to join Luis Enrique in the Italian capital
Roma are on the verge of completing a free transfer for former Marseille defender Gabriel Heinze.

Sky Sport Italia
and La Gazzetta dello Sport are both reporting the 33-year-old Argentine is on his way to the Eternal City to put pen to paper on a one-year deal.

Heinze announced his decision to leave the Ligue 1 club at the end of last season and will join Roma on a free deal.

Bologna were linked with his services, but it seems a sticking point over his €1 million per annum wage demands scuppered the move.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United man is expected to sign a deal with the capital-based club once he arrives for a medical on Friday.

Heinze has been offered a one-year contract with the option to sign for a second term.
