Sao Paulo announced on Thursday that they have completed the signing of Cerro Porteno defender Ivan Piris.
The Paraguay international, who is currently preparing for Sunday's Copa America final, has joined the Brazilian outfit on a two-year contract. Sao Paulo have paid a fee in the region of €3 million for Piris' services.
The 22-year-old will meet up with the rest of the squad once the South American tournament ends and is expected to make the right-back spot his own at his new club.
Sao Paulo vice-president John Paul de Jesus Lopes spoke of his delight at capturing the talented defender.
''For months we have been working quietly on this player and to see it succeed makes us very happy," he told the club's official website.
"[Ivan] Piris is a young athlete who has lots of potential. He will definitely add great quality to our group.''
Piris attracted the interest of many other European clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Benfica, Porto, Bologna and Udinese.
