Official: Barcelona loan out Henrique to Palmeiras

The defender is still not part of the Catalans' first-team plans and will return to his homeland after spending the last three years abroad in both Germany and Spain
Barcelona defender Henrique has joined Palmeiras on a season-long switch, the Spanish club have announced via their official website.

The Brazilian defender signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2008 for €8 million, but never featured for the Liga giants, spending one season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen before being loaned out to Racing Santander for the following two years.

Palmeiras had declared earlier on Friday that a deal was close at hand, and Barcelona confirmed the loan transfer late in the afternoon.

Henrique, who has yet to pass a medical with Palmeiras, will be presented by the club sometime next week.

The 24-year-old stopper, who played at Palmeiras in 2008, making 26 appearances, joins the club to fill the void created by Danilo's departure to Udinese.
