Hamburg have completed their fifth signing of the summer with the acquisition of Rosenborg midfielder Per Ciljan Skjelbred - although the Norwegian international will not join the club until January 1, 2012.
The 24-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at the Bundesliga outfit, with Rosenborg insisting the player stay with the team until the Norwegian domestic league finishes in November.
Hamburg coach, Michael Oenning played a fundamental role in bringing Skjelbred to the Imtech Arena, having previously attempted acquiring him during his spell at Nurnberg.
"During my time at Nurnberg, I tried to sign him but the deal never happened," Oenning told the club's website.
The coach also confirmed Hamburg will attempt to persuade Rosenborg to let the Norwegian join the Bundesliga side immediately.
"We are trying to get him earlier. We will just have to wait and see what the coming days bring."
Skjelbred, who has 17 international caps joins four former Chelsea players at Hamburg, with Michael Mancienne, Jacopo Sala, Gokhan Tore and Jeffrey Bruma all signing for HSV.
