Aston Villa to sign ADO Den Haag's Wesley Verhoek as replacement for Ashley Young - report

The 24-year-old Dutch winger is highly regarded by the Villa coach to fill the void created by Young's departure
Aston Villa are targeting a move for ADO Den Haag winger Wesley Verhoek, according to a report in NuSport.

The Premier League side are in the market for a new midfielder after selling Ashley Young to Manchester United for an undisclosed fee earlier this week.

Verhoek, 24, has been at ADO Den Haag his entire career and is reportedly looking for a new challenge in one of Europe's top leagues.

Villa coach Alex McLeish is a known admirer of the Dutchman, having tried to land him back when he as in charge of Birmingham. However, Verhoek turned down the move, as he reportedly did not wish to play in the Championship.

With McLeish now head of the Premier League side, chances are that he has already found a replacement for Young in the Dutchman.
