AZ Alkmaar defender Hector Moreno denies agreeing terms with Espanyol

Hector Moreno has denied rumours that a transfer from current club AZ Alkmaar to Espanyol has been completed.

The Eredivisie club have released a statement outlining their position, with technical director Earnest Stewart insisting that the club "want clarity".

AZ asked for a bank guarantee from the La Liga outfit to confirm that they want to sign Moreno and have set a deadline of June 20 for financial clarity to be reached and the 23-year-old has stated that nothing has been finalised.

"I don't know yet, when I do I'll gladly let you [the press] know," the former UNAM defender told Goal.com USA Spanish version.

"I know there have been negotiations [with AZ], we'll see in the days to come. I've heard that the Espanyol people are treating the deal as done, but no one's called me and I wouldn't know what to tell you anyway. We'll see - I don't know," he concluded.

The Culiacan-born defender is currently on duty with his nation at the Gold Cup, with a quarter-final matchup with Guatemala his next likely appearance.
