Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero spent an hour and a half in discussion with his father and his agents at the Vicente Calderon on Monday evening, according to latest emanating reports from Spain.
Madrid-based Spanish sports daily Marca claims that the Argentina international, who has been linked with a host of clubs including Real Madrid, entered the stadium at around 17:30 local time.
Along with his father Leonel Aguero and his two representatives he then engaged in the meeting. The negotiations lasted for around 90 minutes, with the player seen driving away in his car at around 19:30.
However, Atletico’s chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin and their president Enrique Cerezo were allegedly not present at the meeting.
Aguero’s release clause is reportedly €45m plus the IVA value-added tax: if this figure is met, then Atletico are contractually bound to allow him to negotiate with the bidding club. His current contract with last year’s Europa League winners runs until 2014.
Several clubs have recently been linked with Aguero. Barcelona were said to be interested, Real Madrid were also following developments despite Aguero's promise never to join Atleti's city rivals, and Manchester City have also allegedly put themselves in the frame. No club has yet admitted a concrete bid for the young forward.
