Olympique de Marseille’s Lucho Gonzalez calms fears of his departure

Argentina international assures OM fans that he is committed to the French giants and will honour his current contract with the club

Olympique de Marseille playmaker Lucho Gonzalez has allayed fears that he will leave the club at the end of the season.

The Argentina international has been linked with a move away from the defending French champions and recently hinted that he could consider his future should coach Didier Deschamps decide to leave the Ligue 1 champions in the summer.

However, Lucho has now tried to calm speculation over his future and in an interview with Marseille’s official website said: "I don't know why there are so many things said about this at the moment. It annoys me a bit. At no time has it left my mouth that I wanted to leave or that I didn't feel good here.

"I have a contract with OM until 2013 and the people at the club seem happy with me," added the 30-year-old. "I have a commitment and I have no problem keeping it. I feel good here, my family too, and those are important things."

Marseille are currently second in the French top flight standings, three points behind leaders Lille.
