Official: Roberto Carlos Parts Company With Corinthians

Roberto Carlos and Corinthians have parted company by mutual consent, the Brazilian club's president announced today.

Andres Sanchez said that the 37-year-old's contract was rescinded after the two parties reached an agreement.

He added that the full-back had asked to leave the club after receiving threats in the wake of Corinthians' elimination from the Copa Libertadores.

Sanchez also claimed that the former Real Madrid star had a
"fantastic offer" to play in another country but didn't disclose which club it was.

Lancenet reports that Carlos will now move to Anzhi Makhachkala of Russia although certain sections of the Brazilian media report that MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy are also interested in the veteran left-back.
