Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has lined up Athletic Bilbao boss Joaquin Caparros as a replacement for under-pressure coach Gregorio Manzano, reports suggest.
Goal.com Spain comments that Del Nido remarked in a recent interview with publication El Correo that he sees Caparros as "the head coach of Sevilla in the future in the medium and long term."
Manzano replaced Antonio Alvarez in the dugout at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in September of last year, but results have not improved as expected, and Los Nervionenses could be set for another change.
Caparros was coach of the Andalucian side from 2000 until 2005, and is credited with formulating the clubs recent successes both domestically and in Europe, before achieving relative success in his current position at San Mames.
Del Nido added: “Under Caparros, Sevilla laid the foundation of today. He is a hard worker. I would not like to leave the presidency without giving Joaquin Caparros the staff to permit him to aspire to titles.”
