Juventus were never close to signing Karim Benzema from Real Madrid as pleas to have him on loan fell on deaf ears, claims Ernesto Bronzetti.
Benzema, 23, grew in favour with the Old Lady, who have been taking urgent steps for a striker before the shutters on the transfer window come down.
And Bronzetti, who has strong links with Madrid, said the Spanish giants wasted no time in rejecting the Old Lady's bid.
"Juventus called Real Madrid and tried to obtain a loan for Benzema, but there was nothing they could do after the Spanish club closed up," Bronzetti told Tuttosport.
"The market offers many names, but to get them you need money and I don't think Juventus can make heavy investments at this time."
