Inter Win Race To Sign 'New Thierry Henry' Luc Castaignos - But Will Park Him At Feyenoord Until 2012

Officials will fly to Holland next week to seal deal for 18-year-old

Inter have won the race to sign Dutch teen sensation Luc Castaignos – but will loan him back to Feyenoord until 2012.

The 18-year-old striker has agreed to join the Italian giants and Inter officials will fly in to Holland next week to complete a deal for around €6.5 million.

Castaignos has become one of the hottest young properties in Europe after scoring five goals in his last seven games since establishing himself in the first team at struggling Feyenoord.

He was also the leading scorer in the European Under-17 Championships in 2009, where Holland finished as runners-up, and is the all-time leading scorer for Netherlands Under-17s with 13 goals. He has also scored nine goals in 14 games for Holland Under-19s.

“Castaignos will sign a contract with Inter next week but will stay with Feyenoord for another 18 months until 2012 to develop,” a Dutch source told UK. “He doesn’t want to leave Feyenoord because he thinks he is too young but Inter don’t want to wait for two seasons.

“Inter will come to Holland next week to complete the deal and, unless it breaks down, he will sign next week.”

There has been lots of interest from the leading Premier League clubs in Castaignos, who has been likened to Thierry Henry for his direct style of play by Holland Under-17 manager Albert Stuivenberg.

Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs who have extensively scouted the teenager but they have lost out to the European champions.
