Manchester United Interested In Porto Striker Hulk - Report

According to a report from Radio Renascenca, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is closely monitoring the progress of FC Porto striker Hulk.

It is believed that Ferguson receives information on the striker after every match, from a scout who has the task of checking on the Brazilian, whose current contract runs until 2014.

The 24-year-old joined Porto in 2008 from Japanese side Tokyo Verdy and has firmly established himself as a key member in their side.

He was embroiled in controversy last year, however, when he was involved in a brawl after a defeat by Benfica.

Hulk was banned for an initial four months after the incident, although the ban was later reduced to just four matches.

Ferguson would have a job on his hands keeping Hulk in check, but the powerful striker could prove the perfect foil for Wayne Rooney.

Hulk has earned comparisons with Didier Drogba in his style of play, and if he were to be as successful as the Ivorian in the Premier League, then the signing of the striker could be risk well worth taking.

Goal.com UK exclusively revealed on Saturday that Ferguson has been assured of a £50million summer transfer kitty by the Glazer family, in addition to whatever he can make from player sales.
