OFFICIAL: Moussa Dembele Joins Fulham From AZ

Fulham manager Mark Hughes has made his first signing, swooping for AZ striker Moussa Dembele. The 23-year old Belgian international who has 28 caps for his country has signed a three year deal with the Cottagers, having previously turned down a move to fellow Premier League side Birmingham City.

Dembele had for some time been angling for a move away from AZ, having spent four seasons in Alkmaar with the highlight being his ten goals in AZ's historic title-winning campaign in 2008-09 during which he formed a dymanic duo with Mounir El Hamdaoui.

Neither club has been willing to reveal the exact details of the transfer although the transfer fee is speculated to be between €6-7 million. Far from a prolific goalscorer, he notched up 24 goals in 118 Eredivisie appearances. Dembele has become an integral part of the Belgian national team, in no small part thanks to his versatility. As well as his favoured striking position, he is capable of operating on either flank and behind the frontman.

Dembele becomes the third striker to leave AZ this summer after the departures of El Hamdaoui and Jeremain Lens to Ajax and PSV respectively. Fulham, on the other hand, have been desperate for attacking reinforcements after Erik Nevland and Stefano Okaka departed the club in the summer.
