Inter will discuss a possible swap deal to allow Argentine defender Nicolas Burdisso join Roma, as the Nerazzuri now are looking at Brazilian Julio Baptista, according to New-Roma.
A meeting between the two clubs could happen on Friday but it is more likely to occur after the sides meet in the Italian Super Cup. Roma so far have not been able to force Inter into accepting a bid for defensive target Burdisso, who spent last season on loan at the capital club.
To make funds available for the transfer, Roma have been trying to offload out of favour Baptista, but the versatile Brazilian international has so far rejected any moves.
Inter coach Rafael Benitez would likely favour a move for Dutchman Dirk Kuyt and Inter president Massimo Moratti yesterday spoke to Genoa concerning the sale of Giussepe Sculli, which could be concluded this week for €5m.
If either of these deals go through, Roma will be back to square one in trying to land Burdisso before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
