The right-back has been taken off the transfer list and looks set to remain at least for another season and Caliendo was quick to defend his player.
"I was a bit surprised by some stories, which made Maicon out to be a mercenary.
"He accepted everything that Moratti decided, the president decided not to go forward with negotiations and he has shown he (Maicon) would happily stay. He is attached to the Inter shirt and from our part there is no demand for a pay increase, even though there were some very big offeres, " Caliendo told Sky Italia.
The agent continued by explaining that the player and club should discuss the situation.
"I reiterate that I think it's sensible for the president to call the player and explain why all this happened. I'm not talking of recognition, either moral or economic, but we must clarify the situation as a matter of relationships, also for the attachment that my client is showing to Inter.
"I read that Maicon is asking for €6m a year: I never talked about money in my life, and if we were to make demands we would not make them on television, but privately, with the people of Inter.
"There have been no demands, the only official news that we have had is that Maicon has been removed from the market."
Maicon will start a new campaign under Rafa Benitez defending a glorious domestic and European treble from last season.
