Roma have officially signed central defender Guillermo Burdisso from Rosario Central on a season-long loan for an initial fee of €500,000.
The 22-year-old, the younger brother of fellow defender Nicolas, is also subject to a clause that allows Roma to purchase him outright for a fee of €4.7 million any time between now and June 30, 2011.
Central have opted to cash in on one of their best prospects due to their shock relegation from the Argentine Premier league, with Roma winning a lengthy race for the recently-capped Argentina international's signature.
Guillermo broke into top-flight football in early 2009, quickly establishing himself as a key player in the Central defence alongside Diego Braghieri.
For Roma, Guillermo may soon be joined by brother Nicolas, who enjoyed last season on loan at the Giallorossi. At the moment he is subject to a transfer war involving parent club Inter, would-be suitors Napoli, and Roma themselves.
