OFFICIAL: Miguel Veloso Completes €9 Million Switch To Genoa

The Sporting CP midfielder completes his move to Italy...
Sporting CP have confirmed the sale of midfielder Miguel Veloso to Genoa via a statement to the Portuguese stock market.

Though nothing has been mentioned on the official website of either side, the Portuguese stock exchange has an official statement from the Lisbon outfit that announces a €9 million deal has been completed. Additionally, if the 24-year-old is “transferred for an amount equal to or greater than €10m” the Lisbon side will receive 20 per cent of the profit.

An agreement in principle has been in place since Friday, with Albert Zapater moving in the opposite direction as a ready-made replacement for the anchoring midfielder.

Genoa presented Miguel Veloso to their supporters earlier on Tuesday, while the Portuguese is quoted by the Grifoni’s official website as stating, “I came to Genoa with the desire to do well, help the club and continue professional growth. Playing in Italy, in a club full of history, is important.

“The decision to come to Genoa I gained after meeting the president. The economic aspect? Not decisive.”

Veloso played 98 league matches for Sporting and has featured 14 times for his nation.
