Roma have two days to draw up a resolution that will break Inter's grip on Nicolas Burdisso as another week of wheeling and dealing begins.
Il Corriere dello Sport reports the Lupi will make one final effort to land the defender, and a breakthrough in negotiations, which have been blown off course because of Mario Balotelli and Maicon, could be reached by Wednesday.
Inter have their hands tied as they continue to work on Maicon and Balotelli's futures. The Brazilian is finding trouble negotiating with Real Madrid over wages, whereas Inter are yet to reach an agreement over Balotelli's transfer fee with Manchester City.
That has put negotiations for Burdisso on the back burner, despite the player's will to hot-foot his way to the Olimpico.
Claudio Ranieri, aware of the player's push to join Roma, is pressing for the best possible deal. Daniele Prade, Inter's Marco Branca and Fernando Hidalgo are expected to meet on Wednesday to thrash out a deal.
So far Roma have offered around €5.5 million for the player's transfer, but Inter want around €8.5m. The Lupi are now expected to meet them in between with a final €7m offer.
