Juventus Target Diego Forlan Says He Is 'Happy' To Stay At Atletico Madrid

Diego Forlan has quashed rumours linking him with a move away from Atletico Madrid this summer, insisting that he is happy at the Vicente Calderon and has no intention of moving on.

Goal.com reported earlier today that Juventus were ready to approach Los Colchoneros with a €20m offer to prise the Uruguayan from La Liga. (see story here)

However, in an interview with Brazilian newspaper Launch, Forlan stated his contentment at the Spanish club.

“I have a three year contract, I am happy, I feel very much for the club and intend to stay here,” the Golden Ball winner claimed.

Forlan netted five times during Uruguay’s incredible run to a fourth-place finish in South Africa, sparking speculation that Juventus were ready to make a substantial offer.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo last week denied that there had been any contact regarding a possible transfer, stating the club's desire to retain Forlan's services.

Elsewhere in the interview, the 31-year old also stated his hope that one day he would play for Brazilian club Sao Paulo, where his father Pablo had plied his trade from 1970 until 1976.

He added, “I’d be happy to play in Sao Paulo, it would be a dream, that would be very exciting.”
