Kaiserslautern have signed Erwin Hoffer from Napoli on a year-long loan, the German club said in a statement on Thursday.
A statement on their official website reads:
"The Austrian forward Erwin Hoffer will be joining 1. FC Kaiserslautern from the Italian Serie A team SSC Naples. FCK and SSC Naples have reached a loan agreement for the 23-year-old. Hoffer, who joined FCK’s team training at the beginning of July, has now signed a one-year loan agreement with the Red Devils. Both parties agreed to keep the terms of the loan deal confidential."
Hoffer made it clear he was unhappy with the lack of playing time he endured with the Vesuviani, making just eight appearances in Serie A and three in the Coppa Italia.
The former Rapid Vienna hitman hopes he can have more of an impact in Germany.
"Playing for 1. FC Kaiserslautern offers me the chance to play a more advanced role in the national team again," he said.
"I am looking forward to wearing the Red Devils jersey. I can’t wait to play for such a rich in tradition club like FCK and in front of its amazing fans."
Hoffer is likely to make his debut against Premier League giants Liverpool in two weeks.
