Real Madrid are weighing up a mega bid for England duo Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney, according to a report in the Daily Star.
Gerrard has been tipped to join Real Madrid after enduring a frustrating season at Liverpool which saw the Reds finish seventh in the league.
But fresh speculation in England claims the Liverpool captain is not the only player Madrid boss Jose Mourinho has set his sights on, as he is also studying the merits of a bid for the Manchester United star.
Upon being announced as Madrid's new coach, Mourinho admitted he would like to coach Rooney, and president Florentino Perez is prepared to make his dream come true.
It is believed Madrid would spend €36 million on Gerrard and €96 million on Rooney, which would see the Manchester United star equal Cristiano Ronaldo's world-record transfer fee.
Daily Star claims that Madrid will ask Ronaldo to convince Rooney into a new challenge at the Santiago Bernabeu after the pair worked together at United for five years.
